While in my history class, we were told to watch and see if we could tell why this movie was anti-communist propoganda. I just thought, "Yeah, whatever, they're clones wanting to take over people's bodies. But delving deeper into the film (eew, did I just say that?) I found that "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" has hints that it is an anti-communist film.

The way I came to this conclusion was not easy, expecially with the scary pods and body snatchers that have nothing to do with communism. The main character, Miles, stated at the beginning of the film that the town looked exactly the same, like nothing was different. THis is like what the United States was like during the Red Scare; the communists blended in well with the democrats. But there were some people who accused them of being something they weren't, just like in the movie.

The body snatchers are liek the communists because they wanted everyone to be the same, and it was like they had no feeling. It was like they believed that life was much easier without emotion and feeling. The communists believed that everyone should be the same and no variety, just like the body snatchers were.

Miles had a monologue during the movie where he said that people change and harden their hearts. The people that fight against communists, or body snatchars, realize how important their lives are and want to keep fighting against them. The communists, and the body snatchers were spreading quickly around the world. The United States believed that the Red Scare was a plague, and communism was a disease. The "normal people" seemed to be worried about what was going on around the world, just like back then.

So because of these reasons, this is why this movie is anti-communist propoganda.
