It seems that the most annoying people are the ones to complain the most. Sometimes they are scary because of how impatient and rude they are. Then there are the people that are just pessimistic and need to tell everyone they meet what is wrong. Then there are the people that you just like, because of their optimism and sillyness, if it's intentional or not. I meet these people every day at work. I just wonder why people have to be so rude when they slave all day to try to get them what they want.
Yesterday I had an encounter with one of these people. A man was coming through the drivethrough last night while it was snowing. When impatient people come through, I worry and hope that I will do everything right, and fast so they will hopefully not be so mean to people like me. Except every time this happens, I mess up at least twice. The thing is some people don't realize that if they yell into the speaker, it messes up, and I can't hear what they are saying, just some random yell. He got mad and left without the sandwich. (I'd rather not go into detail, it was too humiliating.) The problem with people like that is they only think of themselves and not of the effort other people go through. If this guy had just been patient, he would have got what he wanted in the end. Though I do understand it was snowing, and it must have been cold with the window open, it is his fault for going through where verbal communication is not so great.
Then there are the pessimistic people. I guess some of them just think that everyone cares about what they have to say. But in reality, no one cares. I sure don't. One day during the summer, this old lady came in to get a sandwich with her daughter-in-law and her two granddaughters. As I was taking her money, she was arguing with her granddaughter and the girl ran into the bathroom crying. The grandma started going off about how annoying she is. I could tell by her attitude that she basically hated her. I did not want to sympathize with her, because I did not care. I guess she expected me to care. I just hope that her personality did not rub off on her family, because no one wants to deal with people's problems. (Well, some people do.) After I was done with her money, I said, "Have a good day," and she said, "Psh!!! Yeah, like I actually will." The daughter-in-law came up and apologized for me having to put up with the crazy lady, and so did the next lady in line.
There are some people, though, that are happy fun people, who I like working for. There are people who ask for the "Football Meatlong" and ask for the white cheese when all of it is white. These people make my day happy, without even meaning to. They are the people that make all the other annoying people worth serving. Life is so much easier when you smile and say thank you.
So, there are the annoying people, who are mean and pessimistic, or the silly ones who don't mind being stupid and smile all the time. Life is just so much more enjoyable if everyone tried to be happy.
