Snowboarders

What is so fun about falling on your face over and over again? While skiing yesterday, I could not help but notice dozens of snowboarders scattered all over the snowy slopes...on the ground. I am sure that snowboarding must be really fun to do, but if that means breaking or dislocating your limbs to have fun, I would rather be safe and keep my limbs by skiing. This is one reason why skiing is the superior sport.

Maybe it is just me, or maybe it is just the snowboarders I come in contact with, but they seem to be not so bright. When you are getting on the ski lift, there is a sign that says, "WAIT HERE". Even without the sign, you should have enough common sense not to step further or you will get whacked from behind by a chair. Coincidentally, two snowboarders behind us did that and they almost knocked us over because they stole our seat. It seems that snowboarders just think they know everything, and end up looking really dumb when they mess up.

Other than snowboarders not being very bright, what they seem to be the best at is falling all over the place. For skiers like myself, it is very frustrating, especially when they fall right in your path on a narrow trail. Skiing is easier because you have more balance and control of what your body does, but with snowboarders, they just fall, and fall, and fall.

Another thing, is while skiing is the easier sport, it is still very fun. You don't need to go to extreme measures to have a fun time. It is a fun thing to do, even when those snowboarders try to kill you (in more than just one way for me!).

Dances (having to do with girls choice dances)

Going to dances is one of the main things in high school. But it is not just going out that is fun. Everything about the whole day is fun. The day date, dressing up, dinner, and the actual date are the things that make going to these dances an awesome experience.

With people in high school, it would not be much fun if you just went out just as two. It is so much more fun if you have a group of friends with you to make you feel more comfortable about the day. You have more people to plan what you want to do to make it fun. For us it was blowing bubbles and playing games at one of my friend's houses. Having a group makes the games so fun because you have that many more people.

One of the greatest things about going to these formal dances is that you get to dress up. Sure it costs money and time, unless you have friends and family that wear the same size of clothes you do. For girls, we have a lot of fun putting on the dresses and making our hair all pretty because it makes us feel more like the princesses that we are. We spend lots of money for people to do our hair and makeup fancy, of course unless you get it done by your friend's personal stylist A.K.A. their little sister who is awesome. It seems we spend lots of money just for one night, and some will never wear their dress again.

All I have to say about the dinner is you spend a lot of money on it, unless you make food and eat at your friends house. It is fun because you have all your friends talking, eating, and laughing like crazy.

The dance might be the funnest thing, but I don't know. First we have to pay for the boutonniere, while they pay for the corsage, unless you have a mother that can make one. Then we have to pay for the ticket to actually go to the dance and we have to pay for gas to get there, and if you follow someone like Rachel who takes you around round-abouts and buildings, the cost will be more. The dance is fun because you actually get to dance with your date now and have a fun time.

Spending all this money is worth it though, because we feel like princesses in our dresses and we have gentlemen to dance with and open the doors for us. Thanks guys!

Driving

Why is it that whenever you need to do something, they make it harder? My meaning behind this is that after the summer of 2004, they changed how many hours you need to drive to 40 hours instead of 30 hours. It is also true about other things, but this is one of the more important ones. Even though driving is very fun, if you are going over 60, this is not fair, especially to people like me who are not committed when they fail.

For poor people like me, we are not committed to driving because of traumatic experiences of driving in our pasts. For some, it is that they were in a car wreck, or someone in their family died in a car crash, so they are scared to drive. For others, such as myself, we take the roading test and very terribly fail for dumb reasons like stop signs. Why do they even have those?!?! Having these terrible incidents keeps us from driving, thus, never getting the extra 10 hours. If it was still only at 30 hours, we would be more excited about getting it done because it takes less time.

Another reason it should only be 30 hours for us to get our license. There would be more drivers, so we could drive our dying families to the hospital or to hurry to the store and get medicine for our parents that are slowly but surely DYING. This is not always the case, but it can happen. The world is safer having more drivers then because we can save lives by knowing how to drive.

Probably the most important reason for the people that decided this is that with more people getting their licenses quicker, they get more money, and start them paying insurance, so they government is getting money from us. Yes, this isn't so great for us, but hey, at least we have our liceses now and it is not like we care about insurance money. I sure don't. Its just part of life, but the country gets more money, they sell more gas, and stuff, and they are happy.

Even though that sounds silly, the gist of this is that 30 hours is better because we basically have the same amount of driving time in. But 20 to 30 hours is a big difference. I guess life just isn't fair.

New Year Resolutions

One year ends, bringing the hope for a better year. It is the chance for people to make changes in their life for the better. But do people actually follow what they resolve to do at the beginning of the year? They might follow their goals for a few weeks or even days, but it seems that everyone just slips into their old habits once again and wait to resolve it the next year.

At the beginning of the year, people are excited to try something new, but for people that are trying to quit bad habits, such as drinking, smoking, or whatever, popping knuckles is mine, it is very hard to quit. We all try, but soon, we fall back into our old ways.

Okay I'm done. I decided that doing homework on holidays is not worth it.
